This summer, T-shirts, sportswear and bedding claiming to provide a cooling experience have been welcomed by consumers. Recently, reporters learned that the National Standards Committee has issued the national standard 'Textiles – Testing and Evaluation of Moisture Absorption and Cooling Performance', which will be officially implemented on 1 February 2027. The standard will provide important guidance for the research, design, production and testing evaluation of these moisture-absorbing and cooling functional textiles. The national standard 'Textiles – Testing and Evaluation of Moisture Absorption and Cooling Performance' focuses on the continuous heat dissipation needs after human sweating and establishes a quality evaluation system for moisture-absorbing and cooling functional textiles. The standard requires that products must achieve a maximum temperature reduction of at least 7°C before and after washing, and an average temperature reduction of at least 6°C within 10 minutes to be considered as having moisture-absorbing and cooling performance. The testing simulates a high-temperature summer environment, placing samples on a constant-temperature hot plate that mimics human skin in a 35°C constant-temperature test chamber. By dripping water onto the sample surface to simulate human sweating, the temperature changes at the water droplet points on the sample are recorded in real time, accurately quantifying the textile's moisture absorption and cooling ability.
